The pledge consisted of three resolutions: “First: We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one motherland, Indonesia. Second: We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one nation, the nation of Indonesia. Third: We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, uphold the language of unity, Indonesian.” This declaration profoundly impacted the independence movement, providing a clear articulation of national identity and purpose. It was also at this congress that the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, composed by Wage Rudolf Supratman, was first publicly performed.
